The clatter of hooves echoed through the roads as she road, her white horse looking up to the moon light, as her purple cloak played with the wind, her dark eyes, and dark hair, and face coudl be seen, she didn't shadow her face with her cloak. Two gleaming sai's where placed in the saddle of the horse in case of emergency. Lady Serenity Isehama Sakusumi, a woman, who had been a Lady of Ulster for about two years now, had an appointment with the Queen, but she was sure it would be brief, her majesty was so busy these days. Looking over her shoulder slightly, she was alone, a rare occurence but yet she was at this moment. She treasured the moments she wasn't followed by her ever diligent brother, whom had swarn to protect her at her Mother's death bed. It was amazing, her brothers diligence, for being her Sentinel, or Guardian of sorts. She took care of herself, she was godo in martial arts, and Ninjutsu, and was very skilled with her Sais, and then of course there was her magic. She'd been practicing since a child, her Mother taught her all she knew. But diplomacy, and politics where her cup of tea.
Looking upon Castle Emain, she spoke with her horse, through their language, a voice of nature, she had learned... "My dear Edward, how do you fare, do you need rest?" her voice to him was soft and gentle. "I'm fine," he said in reply, with his sounds, "We're nearing the Castle, plus, as you said we have to make Haste if we want to see the Queen at all.." She smiled and laughed, "Then why aren't you going faster," she teased. "Faster? Very well."
He suddenly shifted into a full out run, she almost fell, and she began to laugh as they neared it much faster than before. She loved her horse, a great companion, he had been in the past and in the future.
She had finally made it to the gates of the castle, after identifing herself, she was let in, now with a slow walk, her horse knew how to act, when time called. Lordly. She then gave her horse to a worker of the Castle, to take him to the Stables until she parted.
Walking in lightly, she looked upon the walls at all the portraits. "Beautiful, I always loved coming here as a Child." She had been here when she was a child yes, with her mother, before they departed form this Land of Ulster. She let her dark gaze then reach a servant, "Sir." she said lightly tapping him on the shoulder. "Yes Madam?" "Could you tell her Highness that Lady Sakusumi, is here?" "Yes, if you would have a seat..." he said warmly pointing to a rather comfortable looking arm chair. "Yes Thank You." Now all she need do is wait on her Queen, the lovely Kahlan Lothair.

A gentle tapping on the heavy oak door of Kahlan's study rippled through the night air. With a hand on her hip and a shoulder against the stonework framing the only window in the study, Kahlan calls for the person to enter.
"My Lady Queen." Came the plaintive voice and Kahlan turned about and smiled. It was Jorgen, an older servant from the shores of Norway. He had come to her as but a child after the Wars of Succession and Kahlan now smiled warmly at the old man. Despite being stooped with age, Jorgen held an air of importance about him and Kahlan admired that stalwart part of him that would not surrender. Could not be defeated.
"Yes Jorgen?" Where Jorgen had grown old, Kahlan had simply remained young. The Queen knew that when Jorgen passed she would feel the keen loss of a good friend and confidant. "Lady Sakusumi would like an audience with you My Lady. If it is not too much trouble." Kahlan nods to the elder and walks around the table and hooks a hand through the crook of Jorgen's arm. "I would be honored if you would escort me there."
Jorgen studied Kahlan with his light ice blue eyes, wondering just how she could be the same as she always was: but different. Jorgen had come to adore Kahlan as a person some years after his servitude to her began. Kahlan was not one to drive her servants to the brink of insanity or fear. Kahlan was simply, well, Kahlan. Walking with her now Jorgen knew that the young woman he had known so many years ago had grown (even if the wrinkles of age were not there). Jorgen himself had grown. Once he thought of Kahlan as a mother, then a woman, and now he simply thought of her as a daughter. Musing lightly on his life Jorgen soon realizes that they have come to where they need to be and Kahlan is watching him with quiet knowing eyes.
"Take a rest Jorgen. You work yourself too hard." Patting the older man on the back gently, Kahlan turns to look over to the Lady Serenity. "Good eve to you, Madam!" Kahlan says with a smile as she traverses the obstacles of the room before picking out a seat for herself near the fire. Tonight Kahlan seems to radiate fatigue despite it never trickling into her voice or showing on her face. "How might I help you this evening Lady Sakusumi?"

Her smile broadened as Kahlan, entered with the kind old man, she bowed, to her, and then looked to the old man, and brought him to her, bringing a light kiss to his cheek, "Thank you sir." Her face reflected in his old eyes, she was young, and half elven, only thirty four, and already widowed, infact only months before, her husband had died, and that's why she was here, to know about the land, where she stayed now alone. He was a Lord of Ulster. And a great one, he did many good things.
She looked at Kahlan, the great Queen. Lips parting to speak to her, her voice was concerned and still gentle, one of the many forms of dialect she used, "My Queen, as you know my Lord, and Widowed Husband,Darien Sakusami, died few months ago, and I've come about the land, and how I am to earn it here in Ulster, if you permit me to keep it. As a Lady of Ulster."
Her eyes formed tears at his name, but she did not let them fall, she was trained for such things, before she was twelve her Father and Mother taught her many things, 18 different languages, politics, magic, and many other things. She hoped it was enough to get her through this.

Kahlan watched Serenity and Jorgen for a moment before the elder man turned and exited the room, blushing even in his old age at such a courtly grace. Turning her attention to Serenity the Queen held a hand out to a chair opposite herself and smiled warmly to the woman while she spoke her minds own worry.
Sitting forward Kahlan rested elbows on knees and her chin in her thumbs, allowing her nose to rest over her clasped fingers. Her voice began softly, tinged with the lightest of accents that always clung to her speech like a nursing babe to its mother. "Darien was a good man and a diligent Lord of his land. I am still saddened by Ulster's loss in such a generous and kind man. He was also a great warrior in his prime." Kahlan spoke of nostalgic times and of life far past but soon smiles warmly at the Lady before her. "Do not fret my dear. The land, in its own right, passes from woman to woman. We do not hold business like the Romans, rather we honor the Matriarch of the family. That would be you my dear. Upon your husband's death you became the heir to his estate and land holding. Should you remarry you will reserve all rights to your land holdings and pass them on to your daughter heir."
Sitting back Kahlan smiles warmly once more, like a child doting on her daughter. "Do not worry of your future my dear. It is all set in law." Casting her gaze aside to the fire, Kahlan stares into its depths for a moment- soaking in its warmth for all of its worth. As it had been for most of the day, the Queen's hair was held back in a tight bun. The events of the day having frazzled the golden mass ever so slightly. Still, in the light of the fire, there was no mistaking the power and prowess Kahlan retained in her own right.
"If you are in need of shelter tonight I can provide you with a room in the Castle." Glancing back to Serenity Kahlan offered another friendly smile, noticing the glimmer of tears for the first time, and quietly cursed the training that they had both been given at a young age. Was it not in the nature of women to grieve over the loss of love?

A fake, but very real looking smile, came to her face, as she told her these warm words, she still grieved, but she had to up-hold her dignity infront of the Lady Queen Kahlan. Her Dark Orbs, trailing to gaze into hers, she thought the only thing holding her together, was the life of her infant son. Which is why she would travel back to the Castle Medva, this night. She did not seek shelter, she came here for this reason, and how would she help Ulster? Was her question, she surely didn't want to stay at the Castle all her life, and dwell there as a simple Widow. She had great political knowledge, and she was good with elemental magics, and strategy, but she did not love war. Nor did she ever aspire, to be a "Wizardess of Ulster." She was a politician, pure and simple, when it came down to it, she was persuasive, and had special empathic abilities.
"My Lady, I wouldn't want to Impose. And I have a son I must go to you know." she said softly. She then looked back to the window, that blue orb shone bright in the cloudless sky. She then heard a tune in her ear, it was a beautiful lament. "Lady Kahlan, I was wandering, if you had any posistions open? I would like to be active in the Ulsterian Governmant." She looked at her more inquisitively, sitting down, her legs crossing slightly, lifting up her dress aswell, but only slightly to show the bottoms of her ankle. Her shoes showing off aswell, they where of amethyst, and ebony.
Her eyes shifted again, to look Kahlan in the eyes, as she awaited her response.

With a light nod of her head to signal that she understood what Serenity meant, Kahlan rested her body against one arm of the overstuffed chair she sat in. The firelight plays a delicate tune over her features as she ponders what next to say to the young woman before her.
"I understand your need to return to your child. I bid you to be careful as we have recently lost one of our Ladies to a kidnapping. I am sure you are familiar with the Lady Aerillia Khisu, she holds the land of and surrounding Dun Caric. The had of fate has not been kind at all to the Lady lately." The solemn undertone was one that had obvious meaning but one that should not be inquired after as she assumed the Lady Serenity would not do.
"As for a position within the government, I ask that you go home to your son and I will write to you a letter after I have spoken with a few of my officials. We will see what there is to offer you my Lady. I do not wish to keep you any longer from your son than you need to be my dear. Shall we close this meeting now?" Raising a slender brow Kahlan offers the woman another smile before beginning to rise out of her chair. It was obvious that the woman was exhausted from a trying day's events.
