Amariette: ~“Daniel, if Ms. Charlie is going to be staying with you while the dig site is cleaned up and repaired, I don’t think it would be very wise of me to live with you, at least not yet. Besides, such a decision requires me to consult my father; he’ll want to meet you before giving any type of blessing. I’m sorry, but tradition and propriety demands I go about these things in the most respectful and lady-like manner, you understand.” It was a request that caught her off guard considerably, but she kept her expression polite and delightfully passive, not wishing to discourage him in the least. Daniel was a strange man to her even now, being rather accustomed to the rogue ‘straight to the point’ bandit types, those adventure seeking debonair men whom kissed first and asked permission later. But Daniel Carter? No. He was shy, inexplicably shy, and nervous, traits that astonished her.~<c>
Amariette: ~After all it was only she? Amariette could not understand what it was about her that made him so damned hesitant to say, or do, exactly what was on his mind. True, she did enjoy the gentle way he went about showing his affection for her, but on the other hand, she feared pushing the envelope and frightening him away with too intense a passion. Passion? Where was she getting these feelings? Was it another extension of the seduction she had felt when he had touched her skin at the spring? Sighing, she suddenly found him staring at her, noticing her withdrawn attention and she brightened up considerably and squeezed his hand reassuringly. Rising on her tiptoes, she placed a chaste and closed mouth kiss on his lips, her body pressed intimately to his for a few precious moments before she drew away again.~<c>
Amariette: ~The day was moving on and the sky was turning a faint red, the afternoon growing into early evening and the horizon darkening in preparation for the nightly show of stars. Walking with him along the path toward the front of the house, she suddenly wanted to continue their time alone for as long as was possible, her lovely green eyes drifting up to him again. “Daniel, give me a tour of your families land? I suddenly want to enjoy as much of the outdoors as possible before winter comes; if you raise your nose to the wind, you can almost smell the change in the season.” Closing her eyes, she released his hand and walked forward a few paces, lifting her arms upwards and allowing the wind to overtake her.~<c>
Amariette: ~The breeze caught her hair and raised it high, the ringlet strands bouncing and flaring in surrender as she began to twirl in a slow pattern and the wind picked up considerably. The hem of her dress billowed and her soft face remained pristine, captured in a moment of obvious solace and peace that was a marveling sight to see. A fresh smile slowly curled her lips and her eyes opened suddenly, the green depths startlingly intense and gleaming. Letting her arms fall to her sides again, the wind died as quickly as it had come and she laughed softly, moving towards him to take both his hands in hers, “Come on, Maggie won’t worry if we’re gone for a few more minutes.”~
