Pushing her fingers through her hair, Kahlan turned to wish Bill Happy Birthday again when Ian got to his feet and abruptly left. Confused, Kahlan glanced around the table at the men that looked equally confused but thought nothing of it. Excusing herself, the lithe Queen wandered after Ian.
She heard him speak to what seemed nothing, but she knew something had to be disturbing the poor man. Nearing Ian she spies the tiny form of Elionett. "Leave him alone, Fae." Kahlan hissed with her mind voice for Elionett to hear.
"Oh look, a Faery." Kahlan says as she reaches out and scoops Elionett off of Ian. "My mother used to tell me that if a Fae alighted on you, that you would have good luck in whatever venue you persued." Smiling nostalgically, Kahlan deliberately looks down to Elionett to make her point. "Isn't she beautiful Ian?" Turning her gaze to the man, she finds he is a bit disgruntled. "There are very few Fae left in this world. They were often taken as pets for children many years ago. The small ones anyway." Moving down the steps to the road Kahlan crouches, her long loosely curled hair shining in the moonlight.
"Go to Lleu, my stallion. He will greet you well. Do as I ask or suffer a longer wait." Setting Elionett on the ground Kahlan pushes the area between her wings with the tip of her finger extremely gently so as to get her on her way. Rising to stand once again, Kahlan turns to Ian standing on the porch.
"It is a lovely Irish night, isnt it? No wonder the Fae speaks." The wording was a bit cryptic, but Kahlan carefully made her way back up the steps to stand next to Ian, "Did you want to go back inside? I'm sure they'll look forward to having you back." In the moonlight Kahlan looks almost Fae herself with soft smooth skin, pale in the silvery light, and the fire of her hair sated by the swelling moon. Reaching back Kahlan pulls her hair over her shoulder and smiles quietly up to Ian before watching the Fae.
As someone exits the front door, Kahlan side steps so that she is pressed against Ian's side. When the patron is gone Kahlan does not move. Finding solace in his body warmth, Kahlan gazes out into the shadowed street, pondering what it was that made her feel strongly toward Ian after having known him a few short hours.

The old fae’s voice croaked so the two could hear her speech. “.…Pet’s for your offspring? We most certainly were not pets! We were once great omen’s to fear and adore!” The once pale light of the fae, ignited into a hellish glow of orange and red hues. Kahlan's hand, which cupped her, would be a noticeable brilliance. Obviously, the fae’s pride was getting in her way of coherent thought. “I come to bring you news that you have finally found your mate and new king; and I am told to sit on a horse’s ass!” The fairy wailed piteously to herself, never had she been treated with such disregard by royalty before. This fairy was the very symbol of immortality and fertile creativity that radiated with such patience, and these two being’s wished to offend! Her attitude failed to mitigate. It deflected the suggestions of the queen, which, were more than genuine. “Is her queen unhappy with my arrival?” “Has my intuition befallen me? Oh, by the name of Wayland!”

"You mean you can see her too?" A laugh outloud sounded relieved. "God, good... at least now I know I'm not going crazy." Marvelling at the tiny creature he now knew to be real he saw that Kahlan was right. "She is beautiful. I don't think I've ever seen anything like her. Almost all the magic is gone from the places I've been outside of Camelot. They were only bedtime stories our parents told us. It's good to know that it's alive some where in the world, isn't it?" Blue eyes shifted to watch the beating wings of the tiny figure bemoaning it's fate for a moment, but then, as usual, they were distracted again.
It was her, and that tugging feeling deep inside him that kept attracting his stare. It wasn't just that she was beautiful in appearance, though she was. Everything about her seemed flawless, especially in the moonlight. But there was something more, some kind of inner beauty, or maybe it didn't have to be beautiful, maybe it just felt like he was fit against the right mold with her tonight. She had smiled so many times tonight and it seemed as though it was something that she hadn't done for a very long time. Maybe she was feeling the same way as he was.
As she pressed against his side and refused to move a spark went up in him and suddenly his hands felt tingly and his head was spinning. He was drinking up the moment alright, and he was so enchanted that he had forgotten all about Elionette and the birthday party... nothing really mattered but those beautiful jade colored eyes he was fixed on. When she asked if he wanted to go inside he shook his head no. "Can't I just stay out here in present company?" He asked as his arm, with a mind of it's own, found it's way around her waist. Another contagious smile broke out on his face as his other hand lifted to brush a stray hair from her cheek.
"Kahlan I have to confess something... if you don't go back inside I'm going to be forced to do as my instincts are telling me to, and I promise you they are quite the opposite of gentlemanly." When she didn't back away he leaned in. Split lip or no split lip, there was no stopping him from kissing this woman. And he did, and much to his gleeful surprise she did not back away when he did it. They're lips met and those sparks turned into bottle rockets and fireworks as he pulled her in closer and took in her scent and her taste, his hand slipping through her hair to the back of her head. Poor Ian's fate was sealed. He would follow this woman to the ends of the earth and back if he had to, but he couldn't live without her.

Was it the night air? The salt on the breeze? Or was it the simple fact that everything seemed right about this man? The way she fit against his side, the way his arm felt about her waist. Her heart fluttered as he pulled her closer to himself and she tilted her head back--
The sensation of his kiss stole her breath away. She had felt nothing as powerfully attractive before. Had he not been holding her close she feared her knees would buckle as her heart skipped a beat or two. For that moment in time there was nothing to worry about, nothing to fear, and nothing to crave. She had what she wanted and in some bewildering way, she felt complete.
When they finally separated Kahlan left her eyes closed, savoring the moment and the fire of the kiss lingering with a tingling sensation on her lips. Taking the moment to catch her breath before opening her eyes Kahlan gazes deep into his. A minute or two passes before she dares to test her voice lest she find she had no power to speak.
"I..." She began but instead of finding the words to say what she wanted to say, she leaned in and kissed Ian again. She cared not about his busted lip, even with the injury his kiss compelled hunger and satisfaction. Like before, her breath came short and she dared to linger with her lips pressed against his. It was like nothing she had ever felt, and this her mind kept repeating until it was a useless jumble concentrating on the kiss, on Ian.
When finally she found the ability to pull back from the kiss, Kahlan lays a hand over her heart to feel its rhythmic beat. Amused she smiles in a girlish manner and takes Ian's hand and places it over her heart. "My heart says what I cannot," she whispers for Ian to hear as she leans against him, her head on his chest. She wondered what she wouldnt do for this man before her now.
She quickly realized she would do anything.

The fae felt the love blossom between the two. Kahlan and Ian were soul-bound to her so to speak, she would feel every heartache and last drop of hope in the two. She saw the light come off them, as easily as they expressed it. Her mood calmed down and the light she dangerously flaunted, died to a gentle shimmer of recognition. “Aye, by the name of Oberon, ye shall be ripe with his child yet! I have a feeling I will be seeing that tight belly of yours swell by the next waning moon. I have never see my Kahlan so in love before! You must have the right stuff!” As if the fae carried the intelligence of a small child, she inquired the two with an anxious looking face. “When will you announce to the kingdom of your fate?” Perhaps fate had not been the kinder word.

When the Fae registered in Kahlan's mind again, she blushed at what the creature was saying. "I cant believe she said that!" Looking up to Ian she has an apologetic half smile on her lips before glaring at the Fae. Hopefully Ian had not caught the word Kingdom in the Fae's last statement, otherwise Kahlan would have alot of explaining she wasnt ready to do.
When the clock began to strike, Kahlan counted the sounds of the bell in the back of her mind, when the bells stopped at eleven her eyes opened wide. "Oh my! It has gotten so late and Ive a daughter to tuck away--" Realizing she has yet to speak of her daughter, Kahlan apologizes quickly and continues, "Her name is Willow." When Ian moves to say something, Kahlan interjects a "No, Im not married," before laying a quick kiss on his mouth and hurrying down the steps, leaning down to snatch Elionett up.
"I'm sorry, but I really must go." Apologizing all the way Kahlan turns, holding the Fae in a coveted manner close to her body. It was a wonder at all that she could even walk after sharing such an intense kiss with Ian.

Confusion was an understatement. "Wha... wha?" His eyes went wide as she berated the fae. Can't believe she said what? What they felt? It is what they felt, wasn't it? That they were made for one another? What was so bad about stating it? Eyes turned to the fae in consternation as if the little winged woman was supposed to know what was going on. It seemed that Elionette was their little spirit guide through this strange and tumultuous event, but even the little creature didn't know what to make of it.
And then like a gong the clock inside the Sea Dog struck eleven, and Kahlan panicked. "Wait..." He started to protest as she fussed and pulled away. He missed catching her hand as she blabbered on in a frantic way until the word daughter slipped out, and Ian was stunned. Daughter. So she was married and this was all just a rouse? Maybe what was on her mind at the docks was her husband... and just like that his world began to tumble down. And then as if she knew what he was thinking she assauged he greatest fear with the truth of the matter- she wasn't married, just a single mom. A single mom from the uptown district which must have meant that she was independently wealthy, and that was something Ian certainly was not.
And just like that she snatched up the fae, before he could protest she kissed him once more and he felt his knees start to give as he leaned after her even as she broke the intimate gesture and began to hurry off into the night. "Wait!" He called desperately searching for her in the blackness outside the tavern, "When will I see you again?" But there was no answer. She was gone. Leaning stunned against the outside of the tavern and put a palm on his forehead. Was it just a dream? A drunken hallucination? A hand came to meet his cheek and fingers brushed over the bandage so lovingly placed there. And he smiled. It wasn't a dream. She was real, and no matter how, he would find her again.
The door creaked open and Scotty emerged into the dim light on the porch. "Ian... buddy... are you ok?" Ian nodded dumbly. Scotty lofted a brow at him. "What's going on with you, McCorrmick?" Ian looked over at his companion with a stupid smile, but his blue eyes had never been so full of life before. "I'm in love with her, Scotty." Scotty shook his head and laughed. "Come on Ian, be real." Ian laughed too. "I'm serious. I'm in love with her, and I'm going to marry her if it's the last thing I ever do."
